Option1 C1 and Driver CPC

If you want to drive a C1 professionally then you will need to pass Driver CPC and LGV C1. Having one without the other makes no sense and you will not be able to source employment.
EP Trainings' experienced team can guide and manage your entire Driver CPC and LGV C1 acquisition from medical to final practical test.

With 5 tests in total why not let us manage the whole process for you.

For your money you will get the following: a medical with our GP (arranged at our location in Bookham, Surrey) , assistance with applying for your provisional C licence, the official theory training material, 3 theory tests booked (multi choice, hazard perception and Driver CPC case study), a 5 day practical driving course on either a manual or auto and a 1 day Module 4 CPC course and exam.
There are NO hidden extras. All prices include Vat and all test fees.

Option 2 C1 or D1 without Driver CPC

Here at EP Training we understand that you may want to drive a bus or coach, but not for hire and reward purposes.

If this is the case, we’ve devised a shaved down version of our category D training that simply removes the Initial Driver CPC element from the course. This means instead of completing 4 modules of training, you’ll only complete two.

There may be other circumstances that allow you to be exempt from Driver CPC training. If you feel this is the case and wish to discuss your training options with us, contact one of our experts for a no obligation chat.

All prices we quote include Vat and all test fees where applicable.

Course Overview

C1 practical training is a popular choice of course for both professional and recreational purposes.

Our C1 courses are ideal for those wanting to drive a horsebox or those looking to begin a career with a Medium Goods Vehicle (MGV) licence requirement (a paramedic, for example).

EP Training’s C1 practical training courses are conducted using a modern VW Crafter panel van which can be coupled with a trailer weighing over 750kg to achieve C1E (trailer) entitlement.

We’ve been delivering C1 practical training courses for over 35 years. Our staff are on hand to help answer questions and queries on any element of the training course. We can arrange medicals and assist with filling in DVLA forms.

What is C1 training?

A category C1 vehicle refers to a truck or van MGV that has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of over 3.5 tonnes but not more than 7.5 tonnes.

During the course, EP Training’s DVSA approved instructors will ensure students receive plenty of experience and quality one-to-one tuition out on local roads ahead of the practical driving test in Guildford.

For C1E trailer licence acquisition we have access to off road facilities to practice manoeuvres and coupling/uncoupling.

C1 entitlement and Driver CPC courses

Gaining a category B (car) licence prior to 1st January 1997 may mean that C1 entitlement has already be granted under grandfather rights.

We strongly recommend that existing licences are checked before booking a course. If in doubt, contact us for help regarding entitlements and grandfather rights.

The same rules for Driver CPC apply for MGVs as they do for LGVs. In order to drive professionally, for hire and reward, an Initial Driver CPC course will need to be completed in order to receive a Driver Qualification Card (DQC). Periodic Driver CPC will then be required every five years in order to maintain the DQC.

EP Training runs C1 courses with or without Driver CPC.

Further information regarding Initial and Periodic Driver CPC can be found on our dedicated course page.
