If you want to drive an LGV professionally then you will need to pass Driver CPC and LGV. Having one without the other makes no sense and you will not be able to source employment.
EP Trainings' experienced team can guide and manage your entire Driver CPC and LGV acquisition from medical to final practical test.

With 5 tests in total why not let us manage the whole process for you. We have both auto and manual trucks as the law has changed. You can now train and test on an automatic gearbox and get a full manual licence (as long as you have a full manual car licence). The whole process will take approximately 8 weeks. Whatever you do, don't sign up with a broker. Go direct to a local, established training company like EP Training.

For your money you will get the following: a medical with our GP (arranged at our location in Bookham, Surrey) , assistance with applying for your provisional C licence, the official theory training material, 3 theory tests booked (multi choice, hazard perception and Driver CPC case study), a 5 day practical driving course on either a manual or auto and a 1 day Module 4 CPC course and exam.

Option 3 Pass Protection

£399.00

All students who undertake LGV training with EP Training will always receive the best training from our DVSA registered instructors. It is in our interest to ensure you pass your LGV test first time. However, it is a fact of life that not everyone will get through first time. To help you attain your goal, EP Training has introduced the PASS PROTECTION scheme. This PASS PROTECTION scheme acts as an insurance by providing an additional 2 re-tests with training.

We DO NOT charge a premium for our services. We charge the standard rate for a professional and comprehensive service. Those that do it cheaper are typically cutting corners and dropping standards. All prices include Vat and all test fees.

Option 4: 5 Days Practical Training Only on C or C+E

£1,350.00

For cat C training: If you have done your own medical, applied for your provisional and passed your theory tests (for cat C1 or C only) then you only need the 5 days driver training.

For cat C+E training: If you already have a full cat C licence then there are no medicals, theories or provisional licence applications to go through for the C+E. Passing your cat C driving test will automatically give you provisional C+E entitlement. You just book yourself in for 5 days practical tuition.

Course Overview

Our company has been delivering practical HGV courses in the Surrey area for many decades. Since our incorporation back in 1980, thousands of students have passed through our doors and have successfully gained their HGV driving licences.

Many of them are now out on the road enjoying their new career behind the wheel. Some have returned to us to obtain additional professional qualifications.

We’re very proud to say that our trusted reputation has earned us the number one spot for providing HGV training in Surrey.

All of our tutors, many of whom have been or still are professional drivers themselves, are DVSA approved and can provide tuition in all LGV categories: Category C1 (7.5 tonnes), C1E (7.5 tonnes with trailer), C (rigid) and C+E (articulated / drawbar).

Our vehicle fleet is made up of modern, well equipped and maintained HGVs. Since the amendments to LGV licence acquisition back in April 2014, we also provide students with a choice of automatic or manual vehicles for the duration of their C or C+E course.

Vehicles will be loaded with IBCs (intermediate bulk containers) filled with water. Learning to drive in an HGV that’s laden is a mandatory requirement and, crucially, it also offers the opportunity to drive a fully loaded vehicle and experience how it feels and handles.

Finance Your HGV Course

While we offer quality courses at competitive prices we appreciate that they may not be affordable to all. Many students are prevented from entering the professional driving industry because of the initial outlay. That’s why EP Training has become FCA approved. This means that we are able to offer interest free finance on selected practical HGV courses (subject to status – terms and conditions apply).

Finance can be arranged easily and instantly with our partner, Pay4Later, via the shopping portal on our website.

The Complete HGV Package

Obtaining an HGV licence is achieved in several steps, beginning with a medical and ending with the receipt of a Driver Qualification Card as well as an amended driving licence.

In between these stages are various modules and examinations (including Initial Driver CPC where applicable) to pass, paperwork to complete and driving tuition.

This all may sound a little daunting but EP Training are on hand to assist. Our staff can help fill out the paperwork, arrange the medical and provide all the necessary practical and theoretical training ahead of the exams.

Initial Driver CPC

Students that go on to use their vocational HGV licence for hire and reward purposes will need to complete an ‘Initial Driver CPC’ course.

Initial Driver CPC is covered under modules 2 and 4 of the practical LGV course structure and once the initial CPC course element has been passed, students will receive their Driver Qualification Cards (DQCs) which will be valid for five years. Prior to the expiry date of their DQCs, students will either need to enrol on five separate Periodic Driver CPC training courses or a single intensive course in order have their cards re-issued.

Further details on our Periodic Driver CPC courses can be found on the dedicated website page.

HGV Training in Surrey

In addition to modern, ISO 9001 approved training facilities in Great Bookham, Surrey we also have further amenities in Addlestone and access to a large, off-road training area that allows for plenty of opportunity to practice and conduct HGV manoeuvres to perfection.

All practical examinations will take place at the testing station in Guildford and tutors will ensure students are given plenty of time out on the local roads and potential test routes.
