Understanding the Difference Between Initial Driver CPC Training and Periodic Driver CPC

Professional drivers play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of transportation systems. To ensure the highest standards of competence and professionalism, the European Union (EU) introduced the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in 2008. Driver CPC training is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of drivers, contributing to improved road safety and the overall quality of transportation services. Periodic Driver CPC is divided into five modules, each with a duration of seven hours. The modules cover various topics such as defensive driving techniques, first aid, customer service, environmental awareness, and legislation updates. The training can be completed in a flexible manner, meaning it doesn't all need to be completed in the same week. You cannot complete the same course more than once to gain 35 hours Driver CPC.

• Monday: Drivers' Hours of Work and Keping of Records
• Tuesday: Walk-Round Safety Checks and Safe Loading of Vehicles
• Wednesday: Vulnerable Road Users and Road Safety
• Thursday: TruckSmart
• Friday: Emergency First Aid at Work/Customer Care and Defensive Driving.

III) Frequency and Certification:

Drivers must complete 35 hours of Periodic Driver CPC every five years to maintain their professional driving licence. The training can be spread across the five-year period, ensuring drivers have ongoing access to relevant and updated information. Upon completion of each module, drivers receive a certificate for that specific training.
